About

This blog is all about a change in perspective in how you experience the city around you, in this case; Detroit.  Jenna and I hatched the concept for this blog, the same way that most good ideas are brought to light: over a drink.  Call it a quarter-century crisis, February cabin fever, or the benefits of a good martini, but we decided it was imperative that we go on mini-vacations twice a month.  We are both avid travelers and share the ideology that  it isn't just the thrill of new places that makes traveling so wonderful, but more so the way you approach new surroundings.  You dig in, you don't fear engaging a stranger in conversation, or standing in the street with an unfolded map.  You explore on foot, you embrace the weather, and you  Google the shit out of everything.  You become equally happy being an observer or an active participant, care less about what is going on somewhere else, and you simply live in the realm of the immediate.  How could we get those same feelings in our city of Detroit?  By changing our perspective. We are now on a mission to explore the city around us through the eyes of someone seeing all that it has to offer for the first time; a tourist.  Please join us in our bi-weekly exploration of the city's secrets and hell, maybe you will choose to become a native tourist too.
